Story & Motivation
Midnimo Agrovet Cooperative is a dynamic and forward-thinking agricultural and livestock cooperative established in 2014 by a visionary trio: Mohamed Mo'allim Abukar, Hassan Ali Hirabe, and Abdirahman Adam Yarow. Driven by the critical need to enhance food security, improve livelihoods, and modernize agricultural practices in Somalia, Midnimo (meaning "Unity") stands as a beacon of collective strength and progress. Headquartered in Mogadishu, with vital operational bases in Buula-mareer, Afgoe, and Jannaale, Midnimo Agrovet Cooperative commands a significant operational scale. We unite 200 dedicated members, encompassing both farmers and herders, overseeing an impressive 8,000 hectares of cultivated land and managing substantial livestock assets including 20,000 goats and sheep, 10,000 cows, and 2,000 camels. Our comprehensive service portfolio provides essential agricultural inputs, delivers impactful training and knowledge-sharing programs, offers crucial marketing and sales support, and provides vital financial services, including loans, to our members. Through these integrated services, Midnimo Agrovet Cooperative aims to increase productivity, improve market access, and ultimately elevate the income and resilience of its members. Even as a relatively new entity, Midnimo has already demonstrated significant impact by successfully implementing awareness programs and practical training sessions that have demonstrably improved the skills and productivity of farmers and pastoralists. Our strategic objectives are clear: drive innovation, build strong partnerships, increase farmer income, promote environmental sustainability, and lead a long-term transformation towards knowledge-based, efficient farming systems.
